The Historic Commission will be conducting FREE tours of the Log House on Sunday, October 1 from 1pm - 4pm. Stop in and learn all about this little gem of Downingtown history.

The Parks & Rec Commission is hard at work on the Halloween Boo Bash in Kerr Park, scheduled for Saturday, October 28, from 4pm - 9pm. Festivities include a Costume and Pumpkin Carving Contest as well as a Halloween-themed Double Feature! (more info)

Downingtown Library: Friends of the Library will be holding their Fall Book Sale 10/20 - 10/22. (Hours: Fri. 10/20: 5pm-7:30pm; Sat. Oct. 21, 9am-4pm; Sun. Oct. 22, 1pm-4pm) Donations of gently used books, movies and music can be dropped off at the library during business hours through Saturday, October 14.

Office Closure: Borough offices will be closed on Monday, October 9 in observance of Columbus Day. There will NOT be any changes in trash/recyling pickup.

Residential Parking Permits: Current parking permits expired on September 30, 2017. New permits are now available at Borough Hall. Applications must be submitted in person with proof of residency. Only designated streets/addresses are eligible for these permits. Operation Military Christmas Care Package: Support the troops by donating care package items! The Borough is one of several drop-off points for this annual program that supports our troops overseas. More information can be found on the flyer. Deadline to donate is October 23. (view flyer)

RX Drug Take Back Event: Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Borough Hall Annex Building. Expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs will be accepted.   (The DEA cannot accept liquids,or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.)  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Borough Council Update

The next Borough Council meeting is scheduled for
Wednesday, October 4, at 7:00pm.

The Downingtown Library board members announced during the September 20th meeting they will be making the final payment to the Borough for the purchase of their new building by the end of September. Enhancements to the parking lot and sidewalks are currently in progress. Library usage has increased 34% from the same period last year. The community's continued support and donations will assist with the on-going improvements and fundraising efforts.

Phase 2 of the Downingtown Skate Park has begun.  Look for the work to be completed in October; then bring the kids out to enjoy the enhancements!

Brandywine Station Project: Demolition will begin this month on the former Sonoco Paper Mill site located around Rt.322 and Boot Road.  We will keep everyone posted with new information as it becomes available.
