Peddlers & solicitors
Pursuant to Ordinance 2014-01, The Borough of Downingtown cannot legally restrict solicitation on private property unless the resident of that property: (1) posts a "No Solicitation" sign on the property; (2) completes a "No Solicitation Registry Request Form" and files it with the Borough of Downingtown; or (3) otherwise advises a person engaged in the act of solicitation to leave the property and the solicitor refuses to leave the premises.
If you would like to have your property added to the "No Solicitation Registry" that is maintained by the Downingtown Borough Code Enforcement Office and provided by the department to each individual or organization that secures a solicitation permit from the Borough of Downingtown, please complete the No Solicitation Registry Request Form (click here to download) and return it to:
Borough of Downingtown
No Solicitation Registry
4 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335
Or email your completed form to: firstname.lastname@example.org
The request forms are entered into a database on a block-by-block basis and supplied to solicitors when they receive licenses at Borough Hall. The list is by address only so that solicitors do not gain access to a potential mailing list of resident names. This address will remain on the list until it is updated or removed.
